Giving you the opportunity to go Green
At CPS Batteries we are determined to offer you all the information and battery options for you to make an informed battery choice.
We would also like to encourage our customers to use and dispose of batteries, which ever form this may be, in the least environmentally damaging way possible.
Unlike most alkaline batteries that have to be disposed of after a single use, rechargeable batteries can last you a whole lifetime. If your household uses batteries, the time is now to start recharging. Whether it is out of concern for the environment, for personal convenience or through the money you will save, we have the rechargeable batteries to suit you.
With recent technological advances in rechargeable batteries it means that they now last longer, can be recharged more times and charge time has been reduced.
You all know how quick, easy and convenient it is to recharge your phone or ipod, so why not recharge your household batteries?

Helping Create a Cleaner, Safer Environment
Every year 15 billion batteries are produced and sold every year, the vast majority of which are disposed of after one use. In the UK alone 634 million batteries were sold in 1998, 89% of these were single use household batteries, with rechargeable batteries only accounting for 2% of the market.
These dense batteries add to the weight of the general waste, creating a waste stream of over 20,000 tonnes every year. The old batteries are also classed as hazardous waste, yet we are still putting them into landfill sites.
Batteries contain various heavy metals such as lead, mercury, cadmium, zinc, manganese and lithium. By burying them, these heavy metals may leak into the ground, contributing to soil and water pollution and endangering wildlife. Burning batteries also causes atmospheric pollution.

What You can Do to Help

Use rechargeable batteries and a battery charger.
Participate in local authority battery collection schemes.
If no bins and collection services are provided urge your councils to do so.
When possible use appliances that use renewable energy. For example, solar panels and winding mechanisms.
